On August 21st and 22nd Kathy went to classes on Grant writing which was sponsered by Congressman Adam Putnams Office and The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Developing.This was a very interesting 2 days.On the 2nd day Congressman Putnam stop by for a visit.He is very interested in Polk County Trying to get all the Grant Money we can. GUESS WHAT----I GOT MY CERTIFICATION AND NOW I CAN WRITE THE BIG GRANTS.So lets get more people from our community to start coming to our meetings and get involved to make an even better place to live.Special thanks to Dr. Cherry,Josie, and all the vista volunteers for helping to keep us feed and as always everything went well.

Thanks go out to the following people who are helping to clean an elderly ladys home.It was really a jungle in the back---thanks

ANGIE,KYLE AND AUSTIN.They have spent about 10 hours and still have a lot to do.

WELL,we have been asking for our community youths to come out and volunteer to help us and that somewhere or somehow they would be rewarded.Well today---Sat.Sept.23rd we had 23 kids show up to help us at the park.Georgina who works for parks had worked really hard and so today they spread mulch and weeded and our Deputy's told them they had a surprise.On Oct.15th the Kids are going to a Tampa Buc's game.We encourage our youths to stay out of trouble so we can do things that are rewarding and next year we are going to try for some more fun trips.So remember come out on the last saturday of each month at 9 am to our park at Ave J NW and 36th St.

HAS EVERYONE SEEN ALL THE NEW HOMES BEING BUILT---SPECIAL THANKS TO TODD AT AFFORDABLE HOMES.

REMEMBER----If you have property not isn't being maintained please call code enforcement in bartow and report it.We want a clean and drug free community.A place that is safe for our kids and grandkids.

Recently I received a call from Jenny wanting to do an article on the things that my association volunteers were doing.I did an interview with her and she has written some nice articles about the inwood community.One of the articles was read by Coach Garrett from Webber University College.He called me and ask if his group could have a complete home to make over.I just happened to have found out that one of my community members had received a letter from her insurance company stating some major items needed to be done or they were going to cancel her homeowners insurance.Well Coach Garrett started working Saturday Aug.25th. His Group has already made a big issue almost go away.I would like to say Thank You to the following:Coach John Shofner and 2 Basketball Players----Ryan Norris and Ismael Fjrova---also Coach Gary Garrett and his 2 Baseball players----Nic Horne,M J Wilson and Chris Dupree.I will be showing pictures as they go.

GRANTS----SO FAR WE HAVE GOTTEN $20,000 TO IMPROVE OUR COMMUNITY---Now we need people to get involved to help spend the money.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A PARTY AT OUR WESTWOOD PARK---PLEASE CALL LEISURE SERVICES AT 534-4340 AND ASK TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ABOUT SIGING A FACILITY AGREEMENT------BECAUSE OF ALL THE HAPPENINGS AT THE PARK THE PERSON WITH THE AGREEMENT SIGNED GETS THE USE OF THE COVERED AREA.WE CAN NOT DO A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.However the park does close at specific times..Please be done by then.
